How are Mega Slam™ Hoops anchored to the ground?
All of our residential basketball systems utilize a J-bolt anchoring system with self leveling nuts. This method is the most effective for several reasons. It allows for infinite adjustments to be made to the anchor to insure a laser level system. Secondly, it makes it really simply to relocate your basketball system from one location to another in the event you move to a new residence.

What size hole do I need to dig for the Mega Slam™ anchor system?

Mega Slam 554 / Mega Slam 660: For maximum stability, we recommend digging an 18” x 18” square hole that is 48” deep and belled out at the bottom. This will require 15 to 17 – 80 lbs. bags of concrete.
Mega Slam 672 / Mega Slam XL: For maximum stability, we recommend digging a 20” x 20” square hole that is 48” deep and belled out at the bottom. This will require 20 to 22 – 80 lbs. bags of concrete.
How many people will it take to install my new Mega Slam™ basketball system?
There are three phases to installing a Mega Slam™ Hoop. Phase (2) is installing the anchor system and will require at least 1-2 capable adults assisting in the anchoring process.
Phase (3) consists of actually installing the basketball hoop on top of the pre-set anchor system. It is important to have at least four (4) capable adults assisting in this phase of the installation process.
How much clearance do I need to allow behind the basketball system?
For best results we recommend allowing a full 2’ behind the adjustable basketball system to alleviate any interference with the height adjustment handle.
How do I maintain my Mega Slam™ basketball hoop?
Maintaining your new Mega Slam™ basketball system is quite simple. Just remember these simple steps:
(1) Keep all organic materials (grass clippings, garbage, etc.) away from the steel pole or base plate to prevent any chance of rust penetrating the powder coated finish.
(2) Clean the backboard periodically with water and a soft cotton cloth. Approved glass cleaners work as well to maintain the clear view glass backboard.
(3) If you see any signs of rust on the system remove the loose paint, gently sand the area, and apply outdoor enamel gloss paint to the affected area.

How far should I set my system back from the driveway?
The basketball systems offered by Mega Slam™ Hoops have various overhangs ranging from 3’ to 5’. Overhang is the distance from the front of the main pole to the front of the backboard. Depending on how much space is available in your playing area it is typical to set the anchor 1’-2’ off the edge of the driveway.
